Google just announced their new Nexus line up with the Nexus
6 and 9. The Nexus 6 is a 5.96 inches phablet while the Nexus 9 is an 8.9 inch
tablet. Both of them offer the latest Android version which is the Android
version 5.0 code named Lollipop.
Here we look at the Nexus 6 and what it has to offer.
Nexus devices are known for providing a stock Android
(Vanilla) experience for the user with the best hardware configuration
available at the time and the Nexus 6 is no less.
HARDWARE
The most noticeable aspect of the device is probably the
screen which is a massive 5.96 inches which is just an inch smaller than a 7
inch tablet. It supports a QHD AMOLED screen which is a norm in the latest
flagship phones available in the market. The resolution is 1440 x 2560 pixels
which results in an impressive pixel density of 493 ppi (pixel per inch). The
AMOLED screen assures a vibrant and nearly accurate color reproduction. The
massive screen is protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
The Nexus 6 is powered by a powerful 2.7GHz quad – core
Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor with Adreno 420 GPU for a smooth software
experience and the Adreno 420 allows for a great gaming experience. The
processor is supported by 3GB of RAM which means multitasking will not be a problem
with this phone. In the storage department the device offers two variants, a
32GB and 64GB. The device does not support an external storage option.
The device has a 13MP primary camera which is capable of
recording 4k (ultra HD) videos at 30fps. It supports image stabilization and a
dual ring led flash. The front camera is a 2MP camera. The battery is a 3220
mAh Li-Po battery which is non removable.
SOFTWARE
In the software area the device comes with the latest
Android version 5.0 (Lollipop) which offers stock (Vanilla) Android experience.
The new version of Android brings a new material, fluid design with little
animations which make the Android experience more intuitive for the users.
The Google Nexus 6 will be available in India in November and the price will probably be over Rs. 40,000.
